The Directorate of Toll Road, Cities and Road Facilities of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) reminded that building a toll road requires a careful planning.

"It was said when we consulted with the PUPR Ministry's Directorate of Toll Road, Urban and Land Road Facilities last week," said Secretary of Commission III for Development and Infrastructure of the South Kalimantan DPRD H Riswandi SIP here on Monday.

"Planning is no less important, according to the directorate, which is related to financing," he quoted when answering Antaranews South Kalimantan.

As the construction of toll roads requires no small cost, it is classified as a mega project, he continued. "Considering the sizeable picture of financing has not allowed the construction of highways using the APBD (local budget)," he said.

"Especially if relying on a limited local budget is not possible," continued the people's representative from the Election District IV of South Kalimantan (Tapin, South Hulu Sungai, and Central Hulu Sungai District).

Meanwhile, to involve third parties is not an easy matter, it needs an economic review process and other aspects, added the member of the three-period South Kalimantan DPRD from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

The construction of a toll road between Banjarbaru - Batulicin (about 260 kilometers east of Banjarmasin), the capital of Tanah Bumbu, according to him, should get joint support.

"The existence of toll road is not only speeding up transportation, but we expect to further open up the isolation in the eastern region of South Kalimantan, and in turn accelerate economic growth and development," Riswandi concluded.

The South Kalimantan Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor H Sahbirin Noor is now building the Banjarbaru - Batulicin expressway with an estimated length of 125 kilometers.
