Barabai, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Alaban wood charcoal from Tapuk Village, Limpasu Subdistrict, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), South Kalimantan, has been exported to Japan.
Head of Tapuk Village Ripansyah in Barabai on Tuesday explained the marketing of alaban wood charcoal in addition to the Asian countries also reached the Middle East.
"In addition to being marketed to Japan, the demand for alaban charcoal also reaches the Middle East and other Asian countries," Ripansyah explained.
Production of alaban charcoal in this region began in 1992 and around the year 2000 is marketed to foreign countries.
Currently, there are about 200 charcoal burning stoves in Tapuk Village which are managed by the community for generations.
Charcoal raw materials, alaban wood, in addition to HST is also purchased from neighbor districts, Balangan and Tabalong.
"One wood truck alaban bought for Rp1,6 million and ready-made charcoal sold Rp3.000 per kilogram," said Ripansyah.
On the online selling site, alaban charcoal even sold more expensive, Rp16 thousand per kilogram.
Meanwhile, a single burning stove can produce as much as 1.8 tons of charcoal.
Related to charcoal processing, he revealed it takes about 15 days of burning before producing good quality charcoal and to be sold to the market.
