S Kalimantan surplus 30 percent electricity

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - In 2018 South Kalimantan will have 30 percent power surplus to support the development of investment that is expected to grow rapidly.

Head of the South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Nurul Fajar Desira in Banjarmasin on Friday said the availability of electricity has become one of the most prominent issues in the region.

Overcoming this, the government quite intensively coordinated with PLN on various problems that occurred in the provision of electricity and power plant development.

As a result, Fajar said, the current power supply has exceeded 30 percent of the requirement, but it is not yet safe from interruption outages.

"Supposedly 30 percent of power supply reserves from current needs, so in addition to safe also facilitate the entry of investment," he said.

Previously, GM PLN of Central and South Kalimantan Purnomo said, currently electricity in these two provinces has a surplus of 100 megawatts, so blackouts due to lack of power can be overcome.

The surplus was obtained after the Bangkanai Gas Power Plant (PLTG) development in North Barito, Central Kalimantan was completed.

"From the PLTG we are able to distribute the electricity to 140 megawatts to meet the needs of South and Central Kalimantan," he said.

In addition, he added, steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) Pulang Pisau volume II was also completed, thus increasing the electricity supply for the two neighboring provinces.

According to Purnomo, many parties unbelieved about the current electricity supply of South and Central Kalimantan have a surplus, so to convince them PLN has invited some related parties, both local government, banks, businessmen, and other electricity customers for a meeting.
