Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 28/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Chili price in daily markets in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, after Idul Fitri 2017 reached Rp100.000 per kilogram.

A vegetable merchant at Pasar Subuh, Utuh, said onWednesday that since the market resumed activity after Idul Fitri, chili price jump up to Rp100,000 from Rp60,000 per kg.

"One of the cause of soaring chili prices is declined supply, while the demand after Idul Fitriis quite a lot," he said again.

He mentioned, the price of chili in Kotabaru grouped into several levels, namely the mixed chili group worth Rp85.000 per kg, with the quality of the mixed chili and a lot of rot.

Medium quality chili, none of which rots around Rp100.000 per kg, and chili sticks worth Rp110.000 per kilogram.

In addition to the price of chili, some vegetables, especially those brought from outside Kotabaru also crept up, but not significantly, such as cabbage, beans, carrots, leeks, and cauliflower.

A wholesaler at the Kemakmuran Market, Daokeh, said it has been several days the shipment of goods from Surabaya can not be done.

"They said the ship can not sail, do not know why. This makes some goods empty," he said.

Previously, Head of Kotabaru Trade and Market Agency H Mahyudiansyah said the stock of goods in Kotabaru are sufficient, so the possibility of price increase in goods is slight.

"Because of the increase in the price of goods is usually triggered by increased demand, distribution is reduced, and could also be caused by high sea waves, so the ship is not allowed to sail," he said.
