General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Syamsudin Noor Airport, Dony Subardono, and General Manager of PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit (UID Kalselteng) Ahmad Syauki inked an agreement on the use of new and renewable energy (EBT).

The signing took place at the South Kalimantan Vertical Agency Meeting at the international arrival terminal was attended by Governor Expert Staff for Economic and Development Agus Dyan Nur, officials of State-owned Enterprise (BUMN) and provincial government. 

PLN South and Central Kalimantan General Manager Ahmad Syauki here on Monday (9/30) said that their cooperation was a concrete support of the government's Green Environment and Net Zero Emission program, especially in the strategic air transportation sector. 

Through this initiative, Syamsuddin Noor Airport begun to utilize renewable energy for some of its operations.

Here then, he said, Syamsudin Noor Airport and PLN agreed to sell Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) covering 10 percent of the airport's total electricity consumption, as well as to build and operate Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in Syamsuddin Noor. It also became a strategic step in developing battery-based EV ecosystem (KBLBB).

Syauki pointed out that PLN continues to expand its service portofolio to support the transition to clean energy.

“Providing REC is our initiative to ensure the use of electricity from renewable source and can be officially recognized. Besides, SPKLU at this airport is a form of our support for government policy in accelerating the adoption of EV,” he said.

The presence of SPKLU at the airport, he said, will be a special attraction for incoming tourists.

“As one of the main entrance, the airport plays an important role. The presence of SPKLU shows South Kalimantan active role in environmental conservation efforts,” he added.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Syamsudin Noor Airport GM Dony Subardono emphasized that this step in in line with the mandate of Director General of Civil Aviation Regulation No. SKEP 124/VI/2009 concerning Eco Airport.

“We are committed to implement sustainability energy program, considering conventional energy sources are limited. It's time to switch to renewable energy which is more environmentally friendly and unlimited,” said Dony.

He hopes that the implementation of EBT at Syamsuddin Noor Airport will have a positive impact on the economy of South Kalimantan.

The Governor's Expert Staff for Economic and Development Agus Dyan Nur also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this collaboration.

“I appreciate all parties who have supported the implementation of green environment program in South Kalimantan. Hopefully this step will trigger an increase in tourist visit and strengthen the economy of the region,” he said.
