The Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, held a hearing (RDP) with the representatives of the Tanah Kambatang Lima separation at a joint commission meeting room.

“The area of Kotabaru Regency deserves for a separation,” said Kotabaru DPRD Speaker Syairi Mukhlis here on Wednesday.

Syairi Mukhlis said that the DPRD has issued a letter of recommendation for approval of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) bsaed on the results of a study the South Kalimantan Research and Innovation Agency (Brida) that Kambatang Lima deserved for a separation.

"The RDP is held with the hope that the regional government of Kotabaru issues a letter of recommendation to approve the New Autonomous Region (DOB)," he stated.

Syairi revealed that he really respects and agrees with the acceleration the DOB separation, especially since the autonomous regionplan has a very large area.

He recalled that Tanah Bumbu District was formerly part of Kotabaru District, but now the area is developing very rapidly because the development can be focused on by the local government.

Based on legislation, the separation must be going through the approval of the local government and DPRD.

“The handover of DOB documents will become the basis for a study for the regional head to provide recommendation then,” he expounded.

The hearing was attended by Chairman of the Acceleration Separation for Candidate District of Tanah Kambatang Lima (TP2CK-TKL) team, village heads, and Village Consultative Body (BPD).
