PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit (UID Kalselteng) added a number of public EV charging stations (SPKLUs) in several locations to serve the increasing ecosystem of battery-based electric vehicle using in Kalimantan.
General Manager of PT PLN UID Kalselteng Muhammad Joharifin here on Sunday confirmed the company's commitment to add SPKLUs or EV charging facilties both in South and Central Kalimantan.
"South and Central Kalimantan are IKN's buffer regions and President Joko Widodo has also declared in IKN a must of facing electric cars so we continue to increase points of SPKLUs development," said Joharifin.

Until June 2024, PLN had inaugurated 10 SKPLUs to bring the total to 23 spread from the west tip of Central Kalimantan in PLN Customer Service Unit (ULP) of Pangkalan Bun.
From the most south of South Kalimantan in PLN UP3 Kotabaru to easternmost in PLN ULP Tanjung which is only 295 kilometers away from the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan.
Joharifin said that PLN will build another 12 charging stations to make the total to 35 by the end of 2024. The SPKLUs will be set up at PLN offices, public places such as malls, restaurant and parking areas.
"We hope that the many SPKLUs built by PLN along the protocol roads in Kalimantan will attract people interest to promptly switch to more environmentlly friendly and efficient mode of transport, battery-based electric vehicles," said Johariffin.
Last Wednesday, PLN has inaugurated a 22 kilovolt Ampere (kVA) SPKLU attended by Tanah Bumbu Assistant for Economic and Development Eryanto Rais who represented Regent Zairullah Azhar at the ULP Batulicin.
The Regent in his remarks read by Eryanto Rais really appreciated PLN in providing electricity infrastructure for the people of Tanah Bumbu and its surrounding so they can benefit.
"On behalf of the local government we would like to express our deepest gratitude to PLN for its efforts in providing electricity and infrastructure in the form of SPKLU for the community, especially in Tanah Bumbu," said Eryanto.
He hopes that SPKLU will increase the ease of electric vehicle users in Tanah Bumbu so that the ecosystem will increase and people will be more interested in owning them.
The development of SPKLU infrastructure contributes to the government's efforts to reduce carbon gas emissions from conventional vehicles.
For EV users who want to use the nearest SPKLU to their location, they can use PLN Mobile app with the electric vehicle feature and select SPKLU, then a list and map of the nearest car battery recharging locations will appear.
