State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir appreciated PLN's quick action to provide clean energy supply for the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

"So many people are pessimistic when they see the construction of IKN. They even more pessimistic when we said it will be powered by solar power. Today it is proven that solar power plant has been built, producing 10 megawatt (MW), while the IKN now only needs 1 megawatt," said Erick Thohir as quoted from PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit written statement in Banjarbaru, Saturday.

SOE Minister was accompanied by SOE Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Secretary of SOE Ministry Rabin Indrajad Hattari, and PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo when reviewing PLTS in IKN.

Erick also gave high appreciation to PLN for bringing green energy to IKN through PLTS and estimated that in the future the need for electricity in IKN will even bigger. He asked PLN to continue to develop clean energy.

"I would like to thank PLN for continuing to commit that Indonesia can implement green electricity. Today, the capacity of PLTS is sufficient, but in the future, the need here is getting bigger. PLN must utilize the potential of green energy in Kalimantan, there are hydro, solar, and wind that must be developed. PLN role here is very large, because it will be the heart of IKN," said Erick.

Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo also appreciated PLN for its success in building green energy ecosystem at IKN.

"We are very proud of PLN's success in being able to build and operate PLTS in IKN. I and Minister Erick Thohir assure that its capacity can continue to be increased to serve the entire IKN ecosystem," said Kartika.

President Director of PT PLN Darmawan Prasodjo assured that the company ready to be "all out" carrying out SOE Minister direction to provide reliable and environmentally friendly electricity in IKN and everything will be based on "state of the art of technology" with the concept of "green, smart and beautiful".

"We would like to thank SOE Minister Erick Thohir who continue to provide guidance in building IKN ecosystem. We are ready to mobilize our strength to assure that IKN becomes a green and futuristic city," said Darmawan.

"Currently there is IKN PLTS build by PLN Nusantara Power in collaboration with Sembcorp, a Singaporean company. Of the total 50 MW to be completed by the end of 2024, 10 MW are being operated. We also will continue to utilize the hydo potential in Kalimantan to increase green electricity supply here," said Darmawan.

He also expounded that the entire electricity network at IKN is built underground so it is more reliable and beautiful.

PLN, through its PLN Icon Plus subholding, has also prepared a telecommunication network to support digitalization and the data center that will be build at IKN.

PLN is also ready to build "smart electric vehicle" ecosystem to support the use of electric vehicles in IKN, thereby building Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) at every point needed with the services united in one hand at PLN Mobile.
