The goverment of South Kalimantan Province is developing conservation-based artifical coral reef and fish restocking program by empowering coastal communities in Angsana Village, Tanah Bumbu District.
Head of South Kalimantan Maritime and Fisheries Agency Rusdi Hartono here on Tuesday (May 7, 2024) said that this program involves a private company, PT Aditya Aryaprawira, and communities living in Angsana conservation area.
"Artificial reef transplantation amounted to 300 units and restocking of 5,000 fish. To support the program, we provide operational assistanceto 30 fishermen and business capital to 35 small traders in Angsana,” he said.

This program is in line the provincial government's environmental development policy in the 2021-2026 Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD), namely the fundamental harmonization of ecological, social, economic and cultural system.
“The artifical coral reef program is strongly support vision and mission of the regional government in improving the environment, especially in waters and coastal areas,” he expounded.
Rusdi described that environmentan improvement in South kalimantan is implemented in two main programs, namely the rehabilitation program for coastal areas and small islands and the empowerment program for coastal and small islands communities.
Thus, he said, the artifical coral reef program and fish restocking is a corporate effort aimed at improving the marine environment and ecosystem, as well as biodiversity in Angsana conservation area.
