The Food Security, Fisheries, Food Crops, and Horticulture Office (DKP2TPH) of Tabalong, South Kalimantan Province, readies tens of thousand of snakehead fish (locally known as haruan) seeds to be bred in Haruan Village, Jirak Village, Pugaan Sub-district.
Head of the office Fahrul Raji said pemijahan haruan fish spawning was carried out through partnership program with the local communities.
"About 50 thousand haruan fish seeds from spawning later we will distribute for enlargement," Fahrul Raji expounded here on Monday.

DKP2TPH continues it efforts to develop Haruan Village of the Jirak Village so it can produce this swamp fish considering the high selling price.
In Batuah Market Tanjung the price of large haruan reachesRp80,000 per kg and people need here is also quite high.
Previously the UPTD for the Development of Freshwater Aquaculture Kambitin-Nalui since 2022 conducted a trial production of snakehead fish seeds with a production of 200 seeds.
With a selling price of Rp1.000 per fish seeds, it is more expensive than the price of other freshwater fish seeds.
Meanwhile, fish farmers in Jirak Village are also equipped with haruan fish enlargement skill, including spawning techniques.
