The government of Balangan, South Kalimantan, through Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Office (DKP3) confirmed that food stocks in the district were sufficient for Ramadhan until Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriyah.

“We can assure that our food stock is sufficient for Ramadhan until Eid,” said acting Head of Balangan Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Mukhlis here on Monday.

He said all food commodities are safe, some even have surplus. Especially for rice stock in the logistics warehouse in Central Hulu Sungai District reaching 40 tons with controlled distribution.

Head of Food Security at DKP3 Balangan Neneng Jamilah said several commodities need to be watched out because they are fluctuate, such as chicken, effs, and chilies.

“Eggs depend on the price of chicken, and chilies because we have no prudction  so we have to supply them from outside,” she said.

Head of Standardization, Stabilizatin, and Trade Supervision of the Balangan Trade and Industry Office Riza Kurniawan saisd that currently the prices of basic commodities on the market are still stable, although some are high.

He said that the prices of shallot, eggs, chilies and rice could still be said to be high.

“Price increase can occur at any time due to dependence onexternal supplies, and people's rice consumption pattern tend to prdominantly use rice products that are harvested once a year, such as Siam, Unus, and Mayang,” Riza explained.

Based on price monitoring on the ground, price of shallot Rp30,000 per kg, cooking oil Rp18,000 per liter, and eggs Rp33,000 per kg.
