South Kalimantan had posted 1 billion US dollar export in January 2024, the South Kalimantan Indonesia's Statistics (BPS Kalsel) recorded.

Head of South Kalimantan BPS Martin Wibisono in Banjarbaru on Friday said mineral fuel was the largest contributor of last month export with a value of 869.59 million US dollar.

“The mineral fuel group stil dominates reaching 86.66 percent off all export commodities,” he said.

The second largest contributor was animal/vegetable fats and oil at 9.89 percent, and the third was raw wood and goods made of wood group 1.55 percent.

BPS noted five destination countries that dominate export value, namely China, India, South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan.

“Meanwhile, the value of import has decreased by around 4.24 percent compared to December 2023,” he said.

The import value in January 2024 was 172.13 million US dollar, while in December 2023 was 179.75 million US dollar or down by 7.62 million US dollar.

Martin said there were five commodities that dominated imports in South Kalimantan in January, namely group of mineral fuel, group of mechinery and mechanical equipment, group of chemical products, ships, boats, and floating structures, as well as group of salt, sulfur, stone, and cement.

The highest imports came from Singapore with a value of 111.03 million US dollar increased by 41.66 percent compared to December 2023 around 78.38 million US dollar.

The second highest import was from Malaysia 51.59 million US dollar, then China 6.66 million US dollar.

“Throughout January 2024, the export value was still higher than import,” said Martin.
