The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is committed to create best places to go with kids or child-friendly tourist destination by involving Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis).
 
Head of Destination Development of the province's Tourism Office Mugeni here on Friday said that the office is now training Pokdarwis to create the destination.

The training, he said, aims to strengthen the structure and function of Pokdarwis institutional organization as a form of follow-up to the commitment.
 
"Pokdarwis as the forefront in managing tourist places in their respective areas must understand the child-friendly destination or attractions," said Mugeni.

Head of Tourism Community Empowerment of the office Musrefinah Lediya expounded that child-friendly tourist destinations are tourist attractions that are equipped with educational information for child.
 
"Alhamdulillah, now there are several tour places starting to focus on developing child-friendly tourist destinations," she said.
 
The provincial government, she said, has provided physical assistance to a number of tourist destinations, such as mini outbound for kids and special gazebo.

In the future, she hopes, Pokdarwis and destination managers to focus on developing child-friendly facilities.
 
"Especially during long holidays, it is the kids who invite to travel, so managers should provide child-friendly facilities and infrastructure," she said.
 
South Kalimantan government continues to strive to improve tourism as one of the drivers of the regional economy, in addition to mining, plantation, and animal husbandry sectors.
 
In 2023, tourist arrivals in South Kalimantan reached 11.2 million, including 45,000 from abroads.
