People living in Maburai Village, Murung Pudak Sub-district, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, will no more have a problem with clean water, even in dry season, after the village optimizes the retention basins (embung) it has.

The reservoir, which has just been inaugurated by Tabalong Regent H Anang Syakhfiani, is now supplying clean water for around 289 families in the surrounding area.

"We optimize the Guntung Paikat reservoir to supply clean water needs for about 289 families in Maburai Village and the surrounding," said Head of Murung Pudak Sub-district Abdul Wahid here, Friday.

The embung, which is managed by the Maburai Village owned enterprise (BUMDes) has previously received facilities support from Adaro and its partner, PT Saptaindra Sejati. 

The retention basins, which has a capacity of 27 thousand cubic meters water, also supplies clean water for the district's Islamic Center. 

Tabalong Regent H Anang Syakhfiani when officiated the Guntung Paikat retention basins, expected private sector to support the embung so it could be more optimally meet the water needs of local residents.

"The reservoir is used to supply clean water for community, thus it needs private sector support to build other supporting facilities," said Anang.

The embung is built in an area of one hectare and is located not far for the Islamic Center as well as the Tabalong Tarbiyah Science College.
