Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases still high in Tapin, South Kalimantan Province. Throughout January 2024, 99 cases were recorded and three people died.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P3) of the Tapin Health Office Puji Winarto informed that 413 people have been recorded in the Early Alert and Response System (SKDR) in this period.
"On average those exposed are in the age range of terpapar 5-19 years. Most of them are children," he said in Rantau, Monday.
Puji revealed that the three deaths were residents of Bakarangan, Binuang and Margasari sub-districts.
"While of the 99 positive cases, the majority in Salam Babaris Sub-district and Binuang Sub-district," he said.

Director of Datu Sanggul Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Millhan, Sp.OG (K)-Obginsos, MM previously admitted that dengue had claimed three lives of children during the transition phase of season.
"Mostly because of late arrival and there was also patient asking to go home even though it's not yet time," he said at the hospital here, Wednesday (January 3, 2024).
Milhan said dengue fever cases entered the Datu Sanggul Hospital started in October and continued to increase until December.
"(Cases) of dengue in October were 35, in November rose to 61. Then in Desember it became 193. When there was an increasing trend there were three death," he said.
Milhan regrets that there are many cases of dengue and considered that if there are death, it is an extraordinary event (KLB).
He warned that delays in patients coming to the hospital should not be repeated because they carry a high risk.

He said dengue cases early this year has increased compared to last year in the same period.
"Last year there were less than 80 cases, now by mid-January 2024 there were more," he said.
In total last year, he said, dengue fever cases reached 3,113 with a death toll of 20 people.
Two days later, On Friday (January 19, 2024) the provincial Health Office reported the number of case has jumped to 251.
"We urge districts and cities to be more vigilant because there have been 251 cases of dengue fever in South Kalimantan, two patients died," said Head of Disease Prevention and Control Anhar Ihwan in Banjarmasin, Friday (January 19, 2024).
He said that efforts to eradicate mosquito nests with 3M movement were the main step in preventing the transmission of dengue.
