Tanah Bumbu Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has installed early warning system (EWS) at three locations to detect the threat of flooding early.
"We install this device in Kusan River Watershed (DAS) inMangkalapi Village, Teluk Kepayang Sub-district, Satui Watershed in Jombang Village, Satui Sub-district, and Mentewe Village Watershed, Mentewe sub-district," said the BPBD Secretary Dwi Kesuma Putra in Batulicin, Thursday.
He said these areas are prone to flood, so they need detection as a preventive measures or anticipate flood.
In Tanah Bumbu there are 12 sub-districts prone to flood disasters, including Sungai Loban, Kusan Hulu, Kusan Hilir, Mentewe, Satui, Batulicin, Angsana, Karang Bintang Kuranji, Teluk Kepayang, Kusan Tengah, and Simpang Empat.

Only three EWS have been installed, because these three areas become benchmark for flood disasters in Tanah Bumbu Regency.
According to Dwi, EWS is very effective as a flood detector.
This tool has also a camera (CCTV) to monitor water discharge in real time and can be monitored using LCD connected to BPBD Tanah Bumbu.
"So BPBD officers can monitor at any time without have to go to the field," he said.
To anticipate flood disasters, BPBD also alerted a rapid reaction team of 12 personnel spread across areas prone to flood disasters.
"We also involved 72 people as volunteers from village and sub-district officials to deal with disasters in their areas," said Dwi.
