Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council (DPRD) of Kotabaru, south Kalimantan, Mukhni AS appreciated the Public Works and Spantial Planning (PUPR) Office for building a bridge to connect two villages, Sungai Bulan and Teluk Sirih in Pulau Laut Selatan Sub-district.


"Local people really need this bridge for their access to and from the village and acces to the local economy," said Mukhni in Kotabaru, as reported on Monday.

He said it was a dream of the local residents, because it is the only connection from the village to the village and from the village to the sub-district capital.

It will play an important role to move the wheel of the local economy for local residents to transport their agricultural and marine products every day.

It is also a vital access to education, so that residents, especially school children, can go to and from school safely and comfortably without worrying about crossing bridge.

"Previously, (they have) a bridge was built from wood, which condition now in serious damage," he said.

He acknowldege that the long before the community had proposed a bridge, when he was collecting aspiration in his electoral area.

Head of Bina Marga Agus of PUPR Office said that the construction of the bridge, with a length of 212 meters and a width of two meters, is planned to be a concrete bridge with piles with a budget of IDR4.6 billion.

"The construction of the bridge using the 2023 budget," he said.

Agus hopes that the construction of the bridge will not encounter any obstacles and can be immediately utilized as wide as possible by the community and will increase their economy.
