Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) has declared ten villages in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan Province, as antimaladministration villages and will be a pilot in Indonesia.


"The ten villages were determined from 40 nominated villages from a total 198 villages of 22 sub-districts in Kotabaru District. They were designated as representatives of each sub-district that had met the criteria," said Head of South Kalimantan Ombudsman Representative Hadi Rahman in Batulicin, Wednessday.

Ten villages have been declared as antimaladministration were Semayap, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district, Tirawan, Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district, Berangas, Pulau Laut Timur Sub-district, Sukamaju, Kelumpang Selatan Sub-district.

Then Bumi Asih, Kelumpang Selatan Sub-district, Serongga, Kelumpang Hilir Sub-district, Manunggul Lama, Sungai Durian Sub-district, Rantau Jaya, Sungai Durian Sub-district, Kanibungan, Sebuku Sub-district, and Tebing Tinggi, Kelumpang Tengah Sub-district.

Each village, Hadi said, had gone through the process of assisting or fulfilling the instrument, and the Kotabaru government had verified the initial one and South Kalimantan Ombudsman verified the follow-up.

The initial process of assistance in launching antimaladministration had been implemented since 2022.

"This was formed because it is important for us to realize the quality public services, down to the village level, which is the spearhead of the public services closest to the community," said Hadi.

Member of the RI Ombudsman Dadan S. Suharmawijaya said that village is a pillar supporting and the realization of public services in a region.

"Building public services with integrity and antimaladministration is a very strategic commitment to improving public services," said Dadan.

According to him, Kotabaru, as a pioneer and initiator of antimaladministration villages in Indonesia, becomes a "pilot project" for antimaladministration villages which will be launched in all provinces throughout Indonesia.

"I appreciate the District Government of Kotabaru for its full commitment and congratulate the ten designated villages. Hopefully public services in Kotabaru to be getting better down to the village level," Dadan said.

Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar Al Idrus appreciated the Ombudsman's help and assistance in the declaration of antimaladministration villages in Kotabaru.

"In addition to boost the progress of the tourism sector, we are committed to building quality public services," said the regent.

"Thank you for the Ombudsman's trust in carrying out antimaladministration village development assistance in our region. Hopefully the ten villages that have been determined can encourage the spirit of other villages in Kotabaru to realize the same thing," he said.
