The Indonesian Society Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI) of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, informed that the city now has 26 traditional game villages.
Chair of KORMI Banjarmasin Uzlah here on Monday said that the city has formed 26 urban villages as folk games villages for younger generation.
"We continue to expand the traditional game village targeting every urban village," he said.
The latest one is in Sungai Bilu Urban Village, East Banjarmasin, which becomes the 26th traditional game village.
He opined that all 52 urban villages in Banjarmasin City should have their own playground for children or Gen-Z to play, especially traditional games.
Banjarmasin has many traditional games, like other parts of Indonesia, among them are balogo, wooden clog, stilts, hadang/asinan, barongsai, slingshot, silat, panco (arm wrestling), roller skating, and archery.
"Our younger generational shouldn't unknown about and unable to play their local games," said Uzlah.
He hopes that this traditional games village to be well maintained, continue to be active to develop and produce outstanding athletes.

Every year, KORMI organizes the Regional Recretional Sports Festival (FORDA) both at the city and provincial level to be brought then to the national level (FORNAS).
"So this game is not just fun, but also produces achievements that satisfy the region," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Sungai Bilu Urba Village Aswin Hermawan said he will strive to develop the traditional game village that KORMI had just inaugurated.
"I see that many children here have talent, this is an opportunity to develop," he said.
