South Kalimantan readies hundreds of traditional and recreational athletes to compete at the 7th National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS) in 2023 in West Java.
Head of Sport Culture of the South Kalimantan Youth and Sport Office Budiono here on Saturday said that FORNAS West Java will be held on July 2-9, 2023.
South Kalimantan to FORNAS West Java, he said, is committed sending 500 athletes for 50 sports listed in the South Kalimantan's Indonesian Society Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI).
South Kalimantan Sport Office and KORMI always coordinationg and synergizing to prepare this traditional and recreation sports contestants in the selection so they deserve to take part in West Java FORNAS.
The selection is carried out by holding South Kalimantan Community Sport Festival (Forda) which is planned to be on May 20, 2023.
Budiono said, with so many sports, then Forda held inmulti-event and single event.

According to him, there are three categories of traditional and recreational sports, namely helath and fitness, traditional and cultural creation, challanges and adventure.
At the 6th FORNAS in 2022 in Palembang, South Sumatra, South Kalimantan sent nearly 600 participants.
"At the 2023 FORNAS in West Java, South Kalimantan Governor who is also Chairman of the South Kalimantan FORMI is committed to sending 500 participants so South Kalimantan can make achiements," said Budiono.
Currently, traditional sports begin to develop greatly di South Kalimantan, because of the great attention of the provincial as well as district and city government.
"This is a great development for improving people health, through sports," he said.
