The Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP) of Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan Provinsce, is expediting vaccination program for animals to prevent rabies.
Head of the office (DKPP) Hairuddin here on Sunday said the vaccination is held simultaneously in four sub-districts, namely Batulicin, Karang Bintang, Sungai Loban, and Angsana.
"This is as a form of protection for pets, especially cats and dogs, so they are always safe from rabies," he said.
Head of DKPP acknowledged so far there is no rabies cases have been found. However, he said, everyone must remain alert, because the bite of animal infected with rabies is very dangerous for humans.
As many as 657 pets have been administered rabies vaccine, namely 378 dogs, 278 cats, and 1 monkey.

The activity was held also to commemorate World Rabies Day which this year had the theme "All for 1, One Health for All."
"Through (the program of) vaccination people are protected from the danger of rabies that can be transmitted by animals that carry rabies," he explained.
The Ministry of Health is aiming to eliminate rabies in humans due to dog bite in Indonesia by 2030 through continuous mass dog vaccination, the ministry's Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Director Imran Pambudi stated last June 2023.
