The Kotabaru Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) encourages all schools in the district to each form teams to prevent and handle violence in schools.
Head of the office Selamat Riyadi said this as a form of anticipating cases of violence and bullying in school that currently viral.
"We extend outreach and circulars to all schools to form teams to prevent and handle violence," he said here, Monday.
Selamat asked every school principal to provide guidance to students so they do not engage in bullying, brawls, and other violence, especially in elementary (SD) and junior high schools (SMP).
To prevent similar incidents to happen again, he pointed out, there need to be supervisory role of all parties, not only Education Office, school principals and teachers.
"Students are not at school all day. When they go home from school, parents must be able to supervise them more, because they spend more time outside school," he emhasized.

Principal of SMPN 1 Kotabaru Rusdiyansyah said he welcomed Disdikbud's call and would carry it out according to mechanism.
He admitted that before the issuance of the circular, his sides have made efforts to prevent and disseminated information about bullying and violence after information emerged from soclal media.
"We immediately took action by invititng students' parents, Family Planning Service, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Office," said Rusdiyansyah
In addition, students are given an understanding every Monday and Friday about the danger of bullying and violence in the school environment and outside school.
