The Tourism Village of Kuin Utara, Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, won the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) Hope I classification for advanced tourism from the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (Kemenparekraf).

Kuin Utara, which combines religious and cultural tourism, presents the history of tomb and mosque of the first sultan in Banjar, Sultan Suriansyah, and floating market.

“Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis) of Kuin Utara Village who repsented South Kalimantan won the award from the Kemenparekraf,” said Head of South Kalimantan Tourism Office Muhammad Syarifuddin here, Friday.

Syarifuddin said that the provincial government is committed to support and promote the Kuin Utara tourist destination to the national level.

“We are ready to provide support in the form of tourism supporting facilities in Kuin Utara,” he pointed out.

Apart from Kuin Utara, Syarifuddin said, there are several tourism village that won awards from Kemenparekraf, namely Pagatan Besar in 2021 and Kubah Basirih in 2022.

According to him, tourism villages in South Kalimantan are very potential, so that the Tourism Office in the districts and cities are expected to explore and develop tourism in the villages.

Previously, Minister Sandiaga Uno on Thursday (August 3, 2023) had visited the Kuin Utara Tourism Village as one of the nominee for the 2023 ADWI. 

He believes that Kuin Utara has its own charm for collaborating culture and religious tourism.
