Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in South Kalimantan and Saint Louis University (SLU) in Philippines carry out "SEA Teacher" program by exchanging students to provide practical teaching experience in their respective countries to strengthen ASEAN cooperation.

"This program will take place from 1 to 28 September 2023," said ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Saturday.

According to the agreement, ULM, as the best state university (PTN) in Kalimantan with A accreditation, send one student from Mathemathics Study Program and one from English Study Program to Philippines.

Meanwhile, SLU will send one student from Social Science Department and one English Department student to Indonesia.

Alim said SEA Teacher is a flagship program to add to experience of ULM students abroad and vice versa.

The students are expected to feel the academic atmosphere that exist in other countries, including to see the education system and local culture to be a source of additional knowledge.

Alim admitted that cooperation with SLU is an honor because the campus in Baguio City is the best private university in Philippines, which currently has around 3,000 students.

"SLU is one of the oldest universities in Philippines founded in 1911, of course this fact is similar to ULM which is the oldest and the largest campus in Kalimantan that has 40,000 students," he said.

SEA Teacher Program was initiated by Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), an organization that involves countries in Southeast Asia to promote cooperation in the fields of education, knowledge and culture in member countries.
