Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Sayed Jafar has inaugurated Kampung Bahari Nusantara (Nusantara Maritime Village) in Sarang Tiung Village, Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district.


Nusantara Maritime Village is a program of the Indonesian Navy to improve people's welfare in the fields of health, education, tourism, economy, and defense.

"We really appreciate the determination of Sarang Tiung Village as Kampung Bahari Nusantara by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) as this is in line with the development expectation of Kotabaru District," said Sayed jafar here on Monay.

He said the program which specifically focuses on efforts to foster and empower national potential in the maritime field in Kotabaru is an effort to harmonize overall economic growth.

"Thank you and the highest appreciation to the Commander of Kotabaru Naval Base Marine Lt. Col. (P) Edy Setiawan and his ranks over the various program that run for sake of people in Bumi Saijaan (Kotabaru's nickname),"  said the Regent.

This program, he said, can also be trigger to build public awareness in empowering maritime potential to encourage the progress of Kotabaru, especially in coastal areas.

"We as the local government are ready to fully support every activities aimed at the welfare of society, including those carried out by the Indonesian Navy, in this case the Kotabaru Naval Base through this program," he said.

"I advise the community to keep maintaining and develop various program in Kampung Bahari Nusantara (KBN) so that the benefits can be felt by all level of society," said Sayed.

The Regent hopes that Sarang Tiung Village as KBN will be more advanced, the people's economy is improving, so is tourism, health, and education, that can be an example of coastal program.

Commander of Kotabaru Naval Base explained that previously Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali inaugurated Indonesian Maritime Village Programs. 

VP simultaneously inaugurate 68 Indonesian Maritime Village Programs in Indonesian Navy Command units from Untung Jawa Island, Seribu Islands.

The theme was "The Navy's Kampung Bahari Nusantara is ready to increase productivity for a sustainable transformation of an inclusive economy for prosperous maritime communities".

Nusantara Maritime Village has five clusters: defense, economy, education, health, and tourism.

"All of the five clusters are supported by the local government and we support paraglidng tourism in Mamake Hill, beach tourism, by supporting Sahabat Laut (Friends of Sea) Group," said Edy Setiawan.
