The District Governmen of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is beautifying the city up to the Airport of Gusti Syamsir Alam for about 12.5 kilometers.

"We are installing road median, street lighting system (PJU) and paving roads for public convenience," Kotabaru Regent Sayed Jafar noted in a press release received on Monday (April 10, 2023).

The works, which are beginning from simpang empat (intersection) to Mega Indah Bridge, is the implementation of development has been planned by the local government.

"We work from here for example of how Kotabaru is changing for the better," he remarked.

The works are estimated to finish before Eid and will be continued with asphalting as well as widening road up to Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport which is targeted to complete by the end of the year.

The government also doing dredging along simpang tiga (intersection) Irama to Miftahul Jannah Mosque to reduce the impact of flooding due to drainage channels started to fill with garbage and mud.

"To realize the project, Kotabaru government cooperates with PT Sebuku Tanjung Coal (STC) through compensation fund," said the Regent.

Meanwhile, Head of Kotabaru Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Suprapti Tri Astuti said the installation of PJU at as many as 157 points will be carried out until the end of 2023.

"Right now the work is still focused on simpang tiga Irama to the Miftahul Jannah Mosque area, after installing road median," she said.

She also expounded that the installation of PJU from Mega Indah to the airport is yet to be done while waiting for installation of canstin and road widening in accordance with the regent's directives.
