Vice President Ma'ruf Amin inaugurated the Nusantara Maritime Village, assisted by the Indonesian Navy, during his visit to Untung Jawa Island, Seribu Islands on Monday.


Based on a press release received here on Monday, the vice president will simultaneously inaugurate 68 Indonesian Maritime Village Programs in Indonesian Navy Command units from Untung Jawa Island.

The vice president will also hold dialogues with representatives of the Nusantara Maritime Village Program in various regions via videoconferencing.

Vice President Amin and his limited entourage departed from the Military Seaborne Command Pier (Kolinlamil) North Jakarta, Monday morning, aboard the Yudhistira Navy Ship and are scheduled to arrive at Untung Jawa Island at 10 a.m. local time.

Nusantara Maritime Village is a program of the Indonesian Navy to improve people's welfare in the fields of health, education, tourism, economy, and defense.

The inauguration activity was themed "Nusantara Maritime Village of the Navy Ready to Support Inclusive and Sustainable Transformation Towards a Prosperous Maritime Society."

Nusantara Maritime Village has five clusters: defense, economy, education, health, and tourism.

The defense cluster empowers the community as a supporting component in national defense.

The economic cluster improves the community's economy through fostering micro, small, and medium business activities.

The education cluster increases the knowledge of the village community through the establishment of smart houses.

The health cluster improves the health of rural communities through counseling and dissemination of information on healthy living and improving the services of community health centers (Puskesmas).

The tourism cluster aims to make villages into tourism destinations, especially marine tourism.
