A coal barge destroyed dozens of houses in Kaladan Village, Candi Laras Utara Sub-district, Tapin District, South Kalimantan Province.
"36 houses destroyed," said Head of Kaladan Village Muhammad Faleh when confirmed by Antara in Rantau, capital of Tapin, Saturday night.
There were no casualties as a result of the afternoon incident. Faleh estimated the material losses due to the incident to reach billions of rupiah.
In addition of houses, he continued, tens of watertransportation belonging to residents were also destroyed by the barge.
Saturday night, the authorities were still collectintg data on the impact of the loss.
"Still in the field, it's still a process," said Head of Candi Laras Utara Police Ipda Ketut Sedemen.
Such incident was not the first to happen. In August 2021 it was recorded that five houses in Sungai Salai Hilir Village, Tapin, were destroyed by a barge.
