PT Adaro Indonesia initiated the first weaving festival in South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. It was held at the Jenamas Market, Rantau Urban Village, Tuesday (January 10, 2023).
The festival, which was held with the Government of South Barito, carried the theme "Strong Woven Culture, Superior MSMEs" or abbreviated as "Bakul" as an arena for weaving culture preservation in the district.
External Relations Division Head of PT Adaro Indonesia Thoha said that as a company that always wants to grow with the community Adaro has special attention to local culture preservation.
"Jenamas Sub-district and Hilir Hamlet have extraordinary potential for woven raw materials, such as purun (grey sedge grass), rattan, water hyacinth, as well as abundant bamban (Donax canniformis). Interestingly, the community gets a gift from God Almighty, the ability to weave," said Thoha.
According to him, Adaro and the community had initiated this activity with the support of all partners, so the festival can be held for the first time in its working area.
Festival participants include MSMEs from seven villages and urban villages by exhibiting each various typical woven.
The woven products on display were also contested to select a winner. It was celebrated with various arts presented by high school students in Jenamas Sub-district.
The first weaving festival was attended by Acting South Barito Regent Lisda Arriyana and her entourage, as well as PT Adaro's partners entourage, PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA), PT Sapta Indra Sejati (SIS), and other parties.
Lisda Arriyana appreciated PT Adaro for the support provided, thus through this activity the government and the private also support the national strategic program of reviving regional MSMEs.
“Thank you Adaro for the first time festival like this is extraordinary lively at the sub-district level, not even inferior to events at the district level,” she said.
On that occasion, she declared this festival as an annual agenda, thus the effort to boost MSMEs continue to take place in Jenamas Sub-district anf Hilir Hamlet.(adv)
