The price of palm oil fresh fruit bunch (FFB) rose by IDR178,50/kg or 7.83 percent from IDR2,281,09/kg to IDR2,459,59/kg in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan Province, during the period of December.
Executive Secretary of Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (Gapki) for South Kalimantan H Hairuddin in Banjarbaru on Monday said that in the last three month from October to December FFB price has tended to increase.
"We hope that the price to keep rising in the period of 2023," he said.
The increase in the price of FFB is said to increase starting at the age of planting 3 years up to 22 years around IDR129.45/kg (7.67 percent) to IDR183.42 (7.83 percent).
Hairuddin revealed that the price of FFB of 3 year age of planting increased by IDR129.45/kg or around 7.67 percent from IDR1,686,89 to IDR1,816.34/kg.
FFB price of 11 year age of planting rose by IDR183.42 or 7.83 percent from IDR2,332.05/kg to IDR2,515.48/kg.
While FFB of 22 years of planting increased by IDR178.50/kg or around 7.83 percent from IDR2,281,09/kg to IDR2,459.59/kg.
A palm oil farmer in South Kelumpang, Kotabaru, Abu Bakar, said that the pricing for FFB at the farm level tends not to use the planting age.
"In our area FFB pricing is still determined by the condition of the fruit, if it is ripe and the bunches are large, then the price applies in general," he said.
The normal FFB price at the end of December at the collector level at around IDR2.050 per kg.
However, the price of palm fruit with small bunches tend to be cheaper that the normal.
