The Tabalong Environment (LH) Agency provides capacity building for prospective climate village program (proklim) villages owing to the increasing threat related to climate disasters.
Acting Head of of Tabalong LH Agency Rahmadi Amir said this activities are expected to produce something useful for saving and preventing climate disasters.
"The proklim is an effort to to avoid climate disasters such as drought, floods, and crop failure," Rahmadi expounded here on Thursday.
Here, village officials were given insight into the policy of proklim, including the impact of climate change that is now engulfing the world.
Head of Waste, B3 Waste Management and Partnership of South Kalimantan Environment Agency Benny Rahmadi said that declining water quality, increasing disease outbreak, and habitat change are also the impacts of globl climate change.
The impact of climate change in Indonesia until December 31, 2021, has even reached 5,402 disasters dominated byfloods, extreme weather, and landslides.
"According to President Jokowi diractives, all community potential must be mobilized to control climate change through proklim covering 20 thousand villages in 2024," Benny pointed out.
The climate village program in addition to providing economic and environment benefits is also an effort to reduce the impact of climate change. Proklim participation in South Kalimantan this year reached 189 from the previous 75.
In Tabalong a total 5 villages/urban villages have received proklim awards, two villages won the madya awards, two villages won utama awards, one village won utama trophy.
