The collaboration of Adaro, University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), and Islamic boarding school has proven successful in providing welfare as well as entrepreneurial spirit for santris (students).
Through Adaro's Santri Sejahtera Program (PASS), now the Al Islam Agricultural Technology Boarding School in Kambitin Village, Tanjung Sub-district, Tabalong District, could run goat fattening and tilapia cultivation business well.
Chairwoman of Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation Okty Damayanti said the achievement of this program was very proud thanks to good cooperation of the Islamic boarding school (pesantren) and its santri.
"Now Al Islam Pesantren is able to fatten goats within four months and even tilapia cultivation has entered the fourth cycle," said Okty fish harvest party at the ponpes, Monday, March 28, 2022.
She said, Adaro wants to see Al Islam Pesantren to be prosperous, wealthy, and become a model in South Kalimantan Province.
By applying the concept of technology education and santripreneur, the ponpes now has a sustainable business and has created entrepreneurial-minded santris.
However, Okty reminded, starting a business requires sacrifice, struggle, and being ready to face the ups and downs.
This year, Adaro and ULM have strengthened programs, including efforts to increase tilapia production and expand market access. Thus, tilapia not only to meet the santris need, but are sold to the local markets.
Okty targets five pesantrens targeted by PASS in Tabalong, Balangan, North Hulu Sungai, and Central Hulu Sungai districts to be learning center.
Director of Al Islam Pesantren Ustadz Rusdian said that Adaro's program has become an encouragement and inspiration in seeing and planning steps to strengthen the economy towards independence of the pesantren.
PASS, which started in 2018, in addition to providing financial aid, also supports in the form of training and assistance in managing tilapia fish and goat farming.
Chairman of Al Islam Pesantren Business Management Abdul Hakim said that it had been three times of tilapia harvest with a total production 1.7 tons worth Rp60.5 million and
sold 74 fattening goats at a price of Rp2,5 million to Rp3 million per head.
"The turn over of goat sales reached Rp208 million and this business is progressing thanks to assistance from Adaro and ULM," said Hakim.
The fish harvest was symbolically carried out by YABN Chairman concurrently CSR Division Head of PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk Okty Damayanti accompanied by a lecture at ULM's Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Dr. Slamet, S.Pi, M.Si, and Director of Al Islam Pesantren Ustadz Rusdian.
