Chairman of the Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) Syairi Mukhlis said that the Kotabaru Police headquarters (Mapolres), which has just been inaugurated by the South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rikwanto, is a pride of the district.

"Today we have a police headquarters that is so magnificent, it's amazing to see this new police headquarters building," Sairi said as reported on Thursday.

The chairman of the DPRD appreciates the performance of the Police, which is shown by upholding professionalism, and is expected to continue to synergize well with the government and the community.

The Kotabaru Police Headquarters was built in the 60s, then it was rebuilt in 2021 with a budget allocation of IDR7.3 billion from grants.

This development is a form of appreciation from the Kotabaru government to the Kotabaru Police for always overseeing the government in carrying out government functions, especially in the implementation of presidential elections, legislative elections, and regional head elections in safe and controlled conditions.

"Starting mid-February 2020, Indonesia was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Police, TNI, and Kotabaru District Government were in (a better) synergy," he said.

Previously, South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rikwanto inaugurated the Kotabaru Sanika Satyawada Police Building.

"It is hoped that all the people of Kotabaru can be protected and their welfare increases," said the police chief.

Rikhwanto hopes that the synergy between the local government, DPRD, the District Military Command (Kodim), the Navy Headquarters (TNI AL), and entrepreneurs in building Kotabaru keeps increasing.
