Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Banjarmasin Regional Environmental Agency (BLHD) Hamdi stated, the air here has not experienced an alarming smoke pollution due to forest fires.

According to him, smoke that blanketed the air in this area is still thin, so it is not alarming for public health if inhaled during breathing. "However we still urge the public when out of the house to wear a mask," he said at City Hall, Friday.

Anyway, he warned, smog can happen suddenly thick, because in the dry season it is very vulnerable to land and forest fires that smoke mails to the capital of the province.

"Our area is indeed minimal of peatland or wilderness, but neighboring districts or neighboring provinces have extensive land and forest that fires could occur, usually smoke up to our city," he said.

This, he said, should be a concern of all. Do not let the incident as years ago when all regions of the province experienced a thorough thick haze, thus making activities disrupted, not to mention the effect on the health, that many have suffered respiratory infection disease (ISPA).

Currently, said Hamdi, the air pollution in this area due to drought levels of fine dust is scattered in more air, which exceeds the quality standard limits above 230 micrograms per cubic meter.

"The air is full of dust inhaled is very poor, we require mask to anticipate," he said.
