The Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar and Deputy Regent Andi Rudi Latif attended the Minister of Home Affairs briefing on domestic government leadership for regents/mayors and deputy regent/deputy mayors who were elected in the 2020 simultaneous regional head election (pilkada).
Minister Tito Karnavian said the leadership briefing was a mandate in developing human resources, especially those related to carrying out the duty of regional government.
"There are three things to be a strong leader. First, a power that requires us to understand the rule and to take refuge in clear rules. Second, to have followers or staff who are able to help us in our work, and thirdly the concept," he said through a press release.
He hopes the regional heads can embrace and establish good relations with the provincial government and the central government.
"Also build good relations with forkopimda (leadership communication forum), deputy regent, regional secretary, and the ranks, so that the government can run well," he said.
Tito insisted the regional heads to be able to suppress the spread of the outbreak through four indicators of controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, namely controlling positive numbers, bed occupancy rate (BOR), high recovery rate, and low fatality rate.
He also reminded regional heads who have been inaugurated to make maximum use of the available time.
“Economic recovery is one of our main targets. We need to(conduct) economic recovery so that people survive. If the economy runs then locally generated funds (PAD) automatically increases and return to normal,” he said.
The number of participants of the third phase of the briefing was 137 non-incumbents from September 13 to 17, including the Deputy Regent of Kotabaru Andi Rudi Latif.
Meanwhile, Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar is in the fourth phase for incumbents. There are 46 incumbents attending this briefing from 20 to 24 September.
