South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor stated that the poverty rate in the province with a population of over 4,000,000 spread across 13 districts and cities is still the third-lowest in Indonesia.
The Governor responded to the general view of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction on the draft regional regulation (raperda) on the 2021 Budget Change Plan(RAPBD-P) at the DPRD plenary meeting led by Deputy Speaker Hj Mariana in Banjarmasin, Monday (Sept 13, 2021).
"It's right that the poverty rate in South Kalimantan has slightly increased to 4.83 percent," he admitted in an answer read by Assistant II for Economics and Development Syaiful Azhari.
However, he continued, the government kept carrying out social protection through social assistance for those affected by the pandemic.
"The aid has been distributed both from the central government and from the South Kalimantan budget fund," said Uncle Birin (the Sahbirin Noor's nickname) who is entering his second term as governor of the province.
He hopes that the 2021 RAPBD-P to be an instrument in the implementation of development to be more effective and efficient, and on target.
"We continue to increase accuracy and supervision until no budget leakage occurs," he emphasized.
He added that the 2021 RAPBD-P is a policy to overcome social impacts and poverty, such as through the strengthening program for MSMEs and social assistance (bansos).
