South Kalimantan legislator Muhammad Yani Helmi, who is a member of Commission II, invited the people of Kotabaru to preserve the forest of Pulau Laut Sigam.
He said that the Sigam forest, which has a beautiful panorama, is a natural resource that must be protected.
The appeal of the people's representatives from the Golkar Party is in accordance with the regulation of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) which stipulated Pulau Laut Sigam as a nature conservation area and its forest as a protected forest.
"Therefore, Sigam forest should not be mined, it will damage its preservation," said Muhammad Yani Helmi whose nickname Uncle Yani.

However, he said, he was sad to find a large hole on the side of the road when he went to Tirawan Village, Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district, to see the beauty of the green open nature.
Meanwhile, Chief of Tirawan Village Sabrani said that the protected forest in his village, which covers an area of about six hectares, has been freed and received permission from the LHK Ministry for the community to use so that in the future it would not be a problem.
"In this regard, we thank Uncle Yani for fighting for it," he said.
