Five universities in Indonesia, the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), Mulawarman University (Unmul), Padjadjaran University (Unpad), the Institute for Communication and Business LSPR, and Moestopo University held an anti-tobacco campaign workshop among teenagers, Saturday.
“This workshop is a part of cross-campus community service (PKM) activities in the anti-tobacco campaign,” said the chief of the organizer Dr. Eni Maryani from Unpad.
In addition to being given an understanding of the danger of smoking, participants are expected to actively involved in the campaign by developing creative ideas on various digital platforms, such as Instagram, Youtube, TikTok. and Podcast.
She said the control of tobacco products, namely cigarettes, had become a concern of various parties because it not only cause health problems, but also economic, social, and environmental.
“Based on the National Basic Health Research Report(Riskesdas, 2018) the largest percentage of smoking was 15-19 years old,” she pointed out.
In the workshop, which was attended by 97 students from various universities in Indonesia, Dr. Eni Maryani delivered the material with the theme “Understanding the Danger of Cigarettes and Refusing to be a Target”.
Sri Astuty M.Si from ULM Banjarmasin said that the cross-campus community service in a form of contribution from academics in overcoming a variety of problems ongoing in the society.
“The speakers invited students to have creative ideas and get involved in the anti-tobacco campaign for teenagers,” said Sri Astuty who is a doctoral candidate for communication.

The workshop also presented academics and influencers, Dr Ira Mirawati for the use of a media campaign with the theme Positivity Viber Social Media, and Kadek Dristiana Dwivayani, M.Med, Kom from Unmul with a theme Make Over Your Creative Content.
After the workshop, participants will be asked to produce a media campaign with the tagline “Kuy, Viralkan Keren Tanpa Rokok” (Kuy, Make it Viral Cool Without Smoking) which also be contested.
Besides winning a prize, the winning media campaign will have the opportunity to be used by the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) as their campaign tool.
Previously, on March 6, SEATCA and LSPR invited 15 private and state universities to collaborate in cross-campus community service in the form of workshops and anti-tobacco campaigns.
Those who involved were LSPR, Unpad, Moestopo University, ULM, Unmul, Udayana Universities, Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Unisba, UMM, UNIB, Syah Kuala, UNS, UII, Uniska, and MMTC Yogyakarta.
