A total of 31 selected young farmers from districts and cities in Kalimantan are being trained at the Agricultural Training Center (BBPP) Binuang, Tapin District, South Kalimantan, to be prepared for an apprenticeship in Japan for 2 to 3 years.
Head of BBPP Binuang Yulia Asni Kurniawati said the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture is targeting 1,000 young farmers in Indonesia to go to Japan in 2021 through the Agricultural Human Resources Development and Counseling Agency (BPPSDMP). Precisely through the apprenticeship program and Specifield Skill Worker (SSW) or special jobs in agriculture.
"In this case, we are running the ministry's program. Exactly to produce Indonesian farmers to be able to compete globally," she pointed out.
The training that began on 26th February will end on May 11, 2021. Then, the participants will be sent for an apprenticeship to Japan to hone their skill and knowledge.

In addition to learning about agriculture, they were also equipped with insights into Japanese culture, work ethic, and language.
"2 to 3 years in Japan. The location has not been conditioned yet, the Ministry of Agriculture will decide," she said.
In the last few days, the participants were also provided with insights into nationality and state defense by Commander of 1010-04 Binuang Sub-district Military Command Capt. Inf. Firman A.S.
The 31 young farmers were from South Kalimantan 18, Central Kalimantan 6, East Kalimantan 3, West Kalimantan 1, and North Kalimantan 3. Their age ranged between 19 to 31 years.
