The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District Government in the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination program gives a priority for elderly.
"We also focus on providing vaccines for elderly who are about to go to worship in the holy land of Mecca," said acting Head of HSU Health Office Dr. Danu Fran Fotohena in Amuntai, Friday.
He explained that based on the Ministry of Health's instruction the target and main priority of inoculation are the elderly who will perform haj worship this year.
"We at the puskesmas (community health center) has made a mapping of the elderly who have listed this year's prospective haj pilgrims. They are prioritized to be vaccinated," he said.

However, he acknowledged, they must go through a rigorous health examination and be asked a variety of questions.
The questions such as do you able to climb 10 ladder steps, do you often feel tired, do you have at least 5 out of 11 diseases (hypertension, diabetes, cancer, chronical lung disease, heart attack, congestive heart failure, chest pain, asthma, joint pain, stroke, kidney disease, difficulty walking 100 to 200 meters, weight loss, etc.

"The answer of the elderly will determine whether or not they can undergo the vaccine," he said.
Danu, on the sidelines of the socialization of the plan to build a new hospital on Friday, said that currently, the vaccination is targeting the elderly. Most recently at the Puskesmas Alabio, the first dose of vaccination has been implemented for the elderly.
