The Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor or popularly called Uncle Birin received Gold Pen (Pena Emas) from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Thursday (4/1) afternoon virtually from Mahligai Pancasila Building in Banjarmasin.
The PWI Forum consisted of members of the PWI Honorary Council led by PWI Chairman Atal S Depari announced that the Governor received Gold Pen after going through a special session of the Honorary Council and listening to his oration virtually.
The Central PWI declared that the South Kalimantan Governor received the award with a very satisfying value after listening to his presentation regarding efforts to build synergy with the press to support development in the province.
“The assessment is also given after seeing the dedication and the efforts he made in developing the press to support sustainable development in South Kalimantan,” said Atal Depari.
The decree and the Gold Pen award plaque are planned to be submitted on February 9, 2021, at the opening of National Press Day in Jakarta.

South Kalimantan to receive Gold Pen. The previous recipients were HM Said, Gusti Hasan Aman, Rudy Ariffin, and Sulaiman HB.
Uncle Birin said he dedicated the Gold Pen award to the community and leaders of the Banua (South Kalimantan).
The Gold Pen, said Uncle Birin, is proof that synergy between the South Kalimantan government and the press has been going well.
Previously, in delivering a virtual oration in front of the PWI Honorary Forum, Uncle Birin was accompanied by South Kalimantan press figure HG Rusdi Effendy, Supervisor of South Kalimantan PWI Fathurrahman, Chairman of South Kalimantan PWI Zainal Helmi and the ranks, Secretary of South Kalimantan Province Roy Rizali Anwar, and heads of government agencies.
