The Banjarmasin Environment Office claims the reduction of the use of plastic bags in the capital of South Kalimantan continues to increase.

According to the Head of Environment Management of the agency Dwi Naniek, this is in accordance with data collection in a number of places in each sub-district, from modern retails to small shops.

"The routine of the agency annually records the extent to which the reduction of plastic bag consumption has done," she said here, Friday.

Naniek said the increase in adherence to Mayor Regulation No.18 of 2016 concerning prohibition in the use of plastic bags continues to improve.

Until September 2020, she pointed out, 341 modern retails and 9 traditional markets have recorded to implement the regulation.

Seeing data from year to year, the figures showed a significant increase. In 2016 there were 92 modern retails that applied, the following year it increased to 102 retails.

Then, in 2018 it increased to 112 retail, accompanied by three traditional markets, in 2019 it increased to 220 retails and six traditional markets.

"Now there are 341 modern retails and nine traditional markets, thus it continues to increase," she said.
