PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, Tbk Plant Tarjun, Kotabaru, launched a vocational village (Desa Vokasi) program to boost its fostered villages to become centers of various business.

PT Indocement Plant Tarjun Corporate Social Responsibility Dept Head Teguh Iman Basoeki here on Wednesday said the program aims to improve the economy of rural communities around the factory.

"Through this Desa Vokasi program, the community can learn and get skill training to work and create jobs in accordance with the existing resources in their area, so the standards of living of people in the rural areas will increase," he said.

Skill is taught here, including CCTV maintenance, networking, air conditioning, motor overhaul, gearbox overhaul, and roller tiredness.

This activity is also one of the CSR programs in community empowerment in the field of education carried out by Indocement in synergy with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"In the implementation we continue to carry out health protocols that apply in the company, such as keeping physical distance, wearing masks and personal protective equipment (PPE). Participants during the training must wash hands with soap and running water and apply a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS),” said Teguh.

A training participant, Hairinuar, admitted that he was quite helped by the training. “This will be very helpful in increasing our competence as skilled HR. Once again thank you Indocement for providing this,” he said.

Langadai village Head, Tri Sutrisno, welcomed the activity and represented other fostered villages he thanked the Indocement's CSR and training team for the initiative.
