The Banjarmasin Agriculture Quarantine Agency (BKP) plays its role for South Kalimantan rubber commodities to penetrate the world market through export to various countries.

Head of the Banjarmasin Agriculture Quarantine Agency (BKP) Nur Hartanto here on Monday said the agency supports export activities by facilitating the service of goods abroad.

"We support export activities, one of which is by releasing this rubber export to India," he said at the release of export in Kertak Hanyar, Banjar District.

The export carried out was the shipment of as many as 106 units/packs or about 200 tons of South Kalimantan rubber to India as one of the export destination countries.

Based on data from Inhouse System iQFAST of the Agriculture Quarantine Agency, rubber exports reported to the agency in Banjarmasin have increased from year to year.

In the period of January-August 2019, the total export was 16,371.16 tons worth IDR442.8 billion, then increased to 32,939.08 tons worth IDR613.9 billion in the same period of 2020 or increased by 201.2 percent from the previous year with an increase in the value of IDR 138.6 percent.

"This is proof the Banjarmasin Agriculture Quarantine, which carries the motto Rapid, Resilient, Transparent, Excellent, Friendly and Innovative Quarantine (Kastturi), has been able to encourage an increase in South Kalimantan export to various destination countries," he said.

This is in line with the mandate of the Agriculture Minister through the ministry's flagship program, namely the triple export movement (Gratieks) which is expected to make farmers prosperous and agriculture is progressing.

The launch of the program began with the submission of the i-MACE application from the agency to the South Kalimantan Provincial Government and a talk show entitled "Local Rubber Penetrating the World" and ended with the release of rubber export.

The i-MACE (Indonesian Map of Agriculture Commodities Exports) is an app from the Agriculture Quanratine Agency which contains the latest export data to help to make policies for the development of agricultural centers, especially in South Kalimantan.

Chairman of the Indonesian Rubber Producers Association (Gapkindo) for South and Central Kalimantan Andreas Winata said the rubber export had previously weakened because foreign markets were being locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"However, it is hoped by the end of the year, rubber export will be more vibrant, so more rubber will be sent abroad to meet the still large export market," he said.
