The Banjarmasin City Police in a series of the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia Independence Day dispensed 250 staple food packages to residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We distribute the package of 5 kg of rice to residents on Jalan Ir PHM Noor, Pelambuan Urban Village, West Banjarmasin," said the City Police Chief Sr Comr (Kombes Pol) Rachmat Hendrawan SIK MM through Deputy Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Sabana Atmojo SIK MH here, Wednesday.
In the distribution of food packages, people were reminded to remain grateful for being healthy and were protected from the danger of COVID-19.
Deputy police chief urged people to always apply the health protocol recommended by the government. Namely, always wear a mask, wash hands with soap, and always keep a social distance.
AKBP Sabana said the social service held at the West Banjarmasin Police compound on Wednesday (August 19, 2020) morning for residents affected by the pandemic was a proof that Police, TNI, and government always present in the midst of the community.
In this activity, Mayor's Decree (Perwali) No.60 of 2020 regarding the obligation of wearing mask outside the house was also socialized.
In addition to dispense staple food packages, Banjarmasin City Police distributed 250 free masks to residents who attended the event.
One of the assistance recipient, Basri (60) admitted he was very happy with the attention of the city police by handing out basic foodstuff in difficult times like this.
"Alhamdulillah, with the assistance of staple food from the police I feel very helped," he said.
Also attending the event were Head of west Banjarmasin Subdistrict Hj Karlina, Commander of 1007-03/BBT Major Czi Tandra Wideru, West Banjarmasin Police Chief Comr Mars Suryo Kartiko SIk, and main officials of the city police.
