The Bhayangkara Hoegeng Imam Santoso Banjarmasin Hospital now has its own Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) equipment to help a quick diagnosis of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
It was granted by PT Pama Persada Nusantara to help accelerating the handling of COVID-19 patients in South Kalimantan.
"We continue to encourage the increase in PCR capacity and we are grateful that today PT Pama is helping with one unit of PCR along with an automatic extractor and other supporting main devices," said South Kalimantan Provincial Police Chief Insp.Gen. Nico Afinta here, Monday.
He admitted that South Kalimantan has received attention from the central government because of its quite high COVID-19 case. As of July 12, 2020, as many as 4.146 positive cases recorded with 216 deaths.
"We from South Kalimantan Provincial Police together with TNI and other stakeholders will always support the policies of central and regional government in an effort to accelerate the handling of COVID-19. This PCR equipment is a tangible manifestation of that support," said Nico.

Later, the Task Force for Acceleration Handling of COVID-19 in South Kalimantan can utilize this PCR test facility at the Bhayangkara Hospital to quicken the examination of samples.
Nowadays, samples examination at the Health Ministry’s Environmental Health and Disease Control Centers (BTKLPP) laboratory in Banjarbaru takes quite a long time because of long queue of samples must be tested.
In adddition to BTKLPP, the latest PCR test can be performed at Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin Hospital which has been in operation sice June 22.
Governor H Sahbirin Noor appreciated the South Kalimantan Provincial Police's quick move in helping the handling of COVID-19 in the Bumi Lambung Mangkurat (nickname of South Kalimantan).
"We all must exert all our ability to deal with COVID-19, which the world has not been able to stop it yet," he said.
Head of the South Kalimantan Police's Health and Medical (Kabid Dokkes) Sr Comr dr Erwinn Zainul Hakim added, through the signing of MoU between Director of Bhayangkara Banjarmasin Hospital Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) dr. Bambang Pitoyo Nugroho and South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) then the PCR test service is opened for South Kalimantan Provincial Government in an effort to accelerate the final diagnosis of COVID-19.
