Kampung Tangguh Banua (the tough village or urban village), which was launched by the South Kalimantan Provincial Police (Polda Kalsel) continues to grow. One of them is the Kampung Tangguh Housing Complex of Borneo Lestari on Jalan AMD RT 10 Alalak Utara Urban Village in North Banjarmasin.
It is different from other kampung tangguh. People here has developed fish farming to realize food security for the local residents.
"Our focus is not only the implementation of health protocol, but to also ensure people's food need, especially fish dishes," Budi Rahman, chairman of the Borneo Lestari Housing Complex, told ANTARAnews, Wednesday.
The cultivation is carried out on vacant land at a public facility beside the Mushalla of Baitul Iman, a place of worship owned by the housing.
Around 10 x 30 meter land is transformed into a productive fishpond by producing tens or even hundreds of kilograms of various fish at one harvest.
"Previosuly we just harvested catfish. Now pangasius. We also have stocked tilapia. Alhamdulillah, all residents can benefit from this fish farming. Especially in the difficult times of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, certainly very meaningful," said Budi.
Chief Brigadier (Bripka) Yudi Indra Pratama, who initiated the fish farming here, acknowledged the spirit of togetherness and caring for others was the main goal.
"So this fishpond is from residents and for residents. Whenever the complex resident need fish to eat, he can take it," said the police officer whose duty is in the provincial police.
But he ensured that all residents of the complex are committed to complying with health protocol in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"Residents of the complex must use masks also outsiders who make a visit. We also apply curfew starting at 21.00 WITA until 06.00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time). Alhamdulilah Borneo Lestari Complex is free of COVID-19. If anyone is exposed , for example, we are ready to help by fulfilling his food needs," Indra concluded.
As many as 67 Kampung Tangguh COVID-19 have ben established in South Kalimantan, which covers 13 districts and cities in an effort to protect the smallest area to be free from COVID-19.
South Kalimantan Police Chief Inp.Gen. Nico Afinta appreciated the establishment of kampung tangguh. He continued to encourage it to grow at every smallest environment of the population.
According to Nico, Kampung Tangguh Banua (the local tough village) could represent the spirit of tackling COVID-19 from the community.
"The key to living with the coronavirus is discipline, thus health protocol must be carried out by everyone without exception and starting from one's self and environment," he said.
