Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar promised to immediately mobilize personnel to revitalize rivers in Pulau Laut Tengah Sub-district to deal with flooding due to river silting.
The regent, accompanied by the chairwoman of TP PKK (Family Planning Movement) and officials, visited Selaru Village in the sub-district to providing assistance to residents affected by the flood.
Head of Pulaulaut Tengah Sub-district Melinda Ratna Agustina said, the current flood is the worst compared to previous years.
"Flood this year has risen to swamp the body of the main road, while it used to only submerge the alleys. It is because of the depthless of rivers," she said.
She expressed gratitude for the coming of the regent and entourage and for providing assistance for the residents who were affected by the flood.
