Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina stated that a pilot mosque will be established to implement health protocol after the Large Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) ended and continued by the emergency response to go to a new normal.
According to him, safe worship during the outbreak of COVID-19 will be carried out in Banjarmasin in accordance with the Minister of Religious Affairs circular No.15 of 2020.
"The Banjarmasin COVID-19 Task Force together with the city's Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) through the city's Public Welfare and the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) to meet to formulate safe houses of worship standards that implement health protocol," Ibnu Sina noted in a press release, Wednesday.
"All pilgrims are required to wear masks, shafs are not tight or there is a distance, there is a place to wash hands, and have a body temperature gauge," he said.
Thus, he said, worshipers will be safe from the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, so worship will also be more solemn (khusyu).

He said, the practice of safe worship to comply with health protocol will be piloted in several mosques in the city.
"If the provincial scale has Sabilal Muhtadin Grand Mosque, the city scale is the Grand Mosque of Miftahul Ikhsan, then jami mosques for the scale of sub-district. It will be prioritized to become a pilot," he explained.
Including, Ibnu Sina added, one mosque from Nahdliyyin and one from mosque from Muhammadiyah, which also can be a pilot.
"Although we believe that those who go to mosque have performed ablution (wudhu), washed hand, apply the sunnah of prophet, insya Allah, in holy and clean condition when worship, but caution remains and the prophet also taught it. Hopefully, we can uphold it by performing strict health protocol," he said.
Not only for mosques, places of worship of other religion, including churches, temples and viharas, asked to be patient to follow the provisions in accordance with the direction of the circular of Religious Affairs Minister.
