The group of health, food, beverage, and tobacco gave the highest share to South Kalimantan's inflation in May 2020.


Head of South Kalimantan central Statistics Agency (BPS) Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said, the province inflation represented by three cities, namely Banjarmasin with 0,11 percent of inflation, Tanjung 0,1 percent, and Kotabaru 0,28 percent.

"Inflation occurred due to prices rising as indicated in some indexes of group of expenditure," she said.

The highest price increases occurred to group of health 0,44 percent, followed by food, beverage, and tobacco group 0,41 percent, household equipment and routine maintenance 0,1 persen, transportation 0,04 percent and the group of information, communication, and financial service 0,03 percent.

"Commodities which share the highest inflation are shallot, chicken, rice, papaya, and patin fish," she pointed out.

But some commodities experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation according to the BPS statistics survey results, including chicken eggs, sugar, garlic, snakehead fish, and watermelons.

Meanwhile, for the comparation of inter-city inflation from 90 cities in Indonesia, 67 cities recorded inflation, the highest in Tanjung Pandan, and 23 cities experienced deflation with the lowest in Tanjung Pinang, Bogor, and Madiun.

In Kalimantan there are 12 CPI cities, 11 of them recorded inflation and on Tarakan experienced deflation 0,27 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Sintang 0,62 percent, and the lowest in Tanjung 0,1 percent.
